Updated 4/5/2021 Governor Andy Beshear said all Kentuckians 16 and older are eligible to receive a COVID-19 vaccine. The Pfizer vaccine is approved for individuals 16 and older; the Moderna and Johnson & Johnson vaccines are approved for individuals 18 and older.
Updated 3/29/2021 Effective July 10 at 5:00pm, Governor Beshear issued an Executive Order requiring all people to wear face coverings when in public for at least the next thirty (30) days when they are in situations that represent a high risk of COVID-19 transmission. The mandate has since been extended in 30 day increments, most recently beginning on 3/29/2021. A list of frequently asked questions related to the mandate may be found HERE.
Updated 3/3/2021 Effective 3/5, event space capacity will increase from 50% to 60%.
Updated 2/16/2021 Vaccinated persons with a subsequent exposure to someone with suspected or confirmed COVID-19 are not required to quarantine if they meet all of the following criteria:
- Are fully vaccinated (i.e., ≥2 weeks following receipt of the second dose in a 2-dose series, or ≥2 weeks following receipt of one dose of a single-dose vaccine)
- Are within 3 months following receipt of the last dose in the series
- Have remained asymptomatic since the current COVID-19 exposure
People who are vaccinated but do not meet all 3 of the above criteria should continue to follow current quarantine guidance after exposure to someone with suspected or confirmed COVID-19.
Updated 11/20/2020 Per Governor Andy Beshear’s Executive Order 2020-968, regarding Venues and Event Spaces, the Owensboro Sportscenter will be closed to the public from 5pm on Fri. 11/20 thru 11:59pm on Sun. 12/13. Updated 8/19/2020 We have taken enhanced health and safety measures to protect our venue guests. However, there is an inherent risk of exposure to COVID-19 in any public place where people are present. COVID-19 is an extremely contagious disease that can lead to severe illness and death. According to the CDC, senior citizens and guests with underlying medical conditions are especially vulnerable. By entering the venue, you voluntarily assume all risks related to exposure to COVID-19, and Venue disclaims any and all liability related thereto. In accordance with the guidance and recommendations set forth by the CDC and local health officials, we respectfully request that the following guests NOT ENTER the venue:
- Guests who are feeling sick or experiencing cold or flu-like symptoms (including fever, cough and shortness of breath);
- Guests who may be experiencing other COVID-19 symptoms (including new loss of taste or smell, sore throat, congestion or runny nose, fatigue, headache, nausea or vomiting, diarrhea);
- Guests who have been diagnosed with, or believe to have contracted, COVID-19, unless you have had no fever for 24 hours (without use of medicine) and 10 days have passed since symptoms first appeared;
- Guests who have been in contact with an individual diagnosed with COVID-19 within the past 14 days;
- Guests who have traveled internationally in the past 14 days; and
- Guests who have traveled within the U.S. to a state that has a 7 day average of 15% or more positive testing rate. For list of those states, please click here.
We will continue to follow recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and local authorities. We appreciate your patience and understanding and are looking forward to announcing a reopen date of the venue to the general public.
Updated 7/9/2020 Per Governor Beshear’s Executive Order, face masks or coverings will be required while inside, or waiting in line to enter, any: retail establishment; grocery store; pharmacy; hair salon/barbershop; nail salon/spa; tattoo parlor; child care facility; restaurant or bar (when not seated and consuming food or beverage); health care setting, or; any other indoor public space in which it is difficult to maintain a physical distance of at least six feet from all individuals who are not members of that person’s household; Venue has the right to deny service and ask guests who are not wearing a mask or face covering to leave the premises (per 902 KAR 2:190E).

Governor Andy Beshear has issued an Executive Order to close all non-life-sustaining business to in-person traffic by Thursday, March 26, 2020 by 8PM to aid in the slow of the spread of COVID-19.
As the safety and well-being of our staff, partners, and guests is our top priority, Spectra, venue management for the Owensboro Convention Center and Owensboro Sportscenter, is following this order in assistance with the City of Owensboro.
We will continue to follow recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and local authorities. We will also continue to update our websites and social media channels with up-to-date information for guests and ticket holders, as more events might be impacted.
As community and entertainment venues, we pride ourselves on the ability to offer you dynamic programming for Owensboro/Daviess County and the surrounding tri-state area.
